ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ at Ashtabula will host a book discussion on βAn American Sunriseβ as part of the Big Read year-long celebration on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022.
The event will include a brief introduction to author Joy Harjo and her work and will be followed by a discussion of Harjoβs collection βAn American Sunriseβ.
Interested participants are invited to check out βAn American Sunriseβ at the ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State Ashtabula library. Books have been provided to the library through a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read grant and can be picked up after registration is complete.

The National Endowment for the Artsβ Big Read community reading program focuses on Poet Laureate Joy Harjoβs βAn American Sunriseβ, a book of poetry influenced and informed by Harjoβs tribal history and connection to the land of her Native American ancestors.
ΜμΜμ³ΤΉΟ State was one of 61 organizations nationwide to be awarded a 2021-22 NEA Big Read grant. The $20,000 grant supports the programs, events and activities being offered by the partner institutions in Northeast Ohio.
