Trumbull's David Hacker Named Finalist for 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award

Ten faculty finalists were chosen from a group of more than 250 nominations for this year鈥檚 48th Annual 天天吃瓜 Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award. The three recipients of the award will receive a $1,500 cash prize and a crystal apple. They also will be honored at the University Teaching Council Conference luncheon on Friday, Oct. 23.

Each year, the 天天吃瓜 State Alumni Association recognizes 天天吃瓜 State鈥檚 outstanding faculty members by awarding three nominated educators with the Distinguished Teaching Award. The Distinguished Teaching Award is the most prestigious award that 天天吃瓜 State accords to full-time, tenure-track faculty members.David Hacker, Ph.D.

In order to be nominated, faculty members must have been employed at the university for at least seven years and be in a tenure-track position.

鈥淲ith so many deserving nominees, it is truly an honor to be selected as an award finalist,鈥 says Lori Randorf, assistant vice president of the 天天吃瓜 State Alumni Association. 鈥淔aculty members represent 天天吃瓜 to so many of our students, and the impact they have on the 天天吃瓜 State experience is remembered long after graduation. The effort put forth in the classroom by these finalists is a wonderful example of faculty commitment to student success.鈥

Among the nominees are Maureen Blankemeyer, School of Life Span Development and Educational Sciences, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Natalie Caine-Bish, School of Health Sciences, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Kelly Cichy, School of Life Span Development and Educational Sciences, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Douglas Goldsmith, School of Visual Communication Design, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Mark Kershner, Department of Biological Sciences, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Jan Leach, School of Journalism and Mass Communication, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Jennifer Maxwell, Department of Political Science, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Christopher Ransom, School of Visual Communication Design, 天天吃瓜 Campus; Gregory Stroh, College of Architecture and Environmental Design, 天天吃瓜 Campus and David Hacker, Department of Geology, 天天吃瓜 at Trumbull and 天天吃瓜 Campus.

Student nominators acknowledge David Hacker for his ability to extend learning beyond the classroom. He inspires students through hands-on learning, as well as provides a positive and welcoming classroom environment.

A 2028 Bachelor of Science in Nursing candidate, Colosimo participated in the Health Institute as well as the Summer Institute at 天天吃瓜 State Florence, immersing herself in global healthcare education, Italian language and culture, and travel throughout the country.

As 天天吃瓜 State Trumbull Theatre enters its 60th season, this summer鈥檚 production of Matilda the Musical is more than just a show; it鈥檚 a celebration of legacy, mentorship and a creative home that has raised generations of performers.

Behind the scenes and under the lights, several members of this year鈥檚 Summer Stock production are not only theatre veterans, but also part of multi-generational stories deeply rooted in this community stage.
