IT Welcome Tent

  • Welcome to 天天吃瓜 State! Stop by the IT Welcome Tent to discover free tech resources available to help you succeed in school! 
  • Learn how to get free Microsoft Office, Adobe Express, TechHelp support, tech training, and much more. Our team is here to answer your questions and get you connected. 
  • Visit their to explore IT Services for students at 天天吃瓜 State! Go Flashes!
  • Will be on Eastway and Library from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

KSU Kickoff Commuter Check-In

  • Commuter Student Check-In is required for only first-year commuters.
  • When: Friday, Aug. 21-- Drop in anytime between 8 鈥 9 a.m. (Attendance will be recorded).
  • Where: The Hub, 天天吃瓜 Student Center (1st-floor food court of the 天天吃瓜 Student Center).
  • Why: Learn about the KSU Kickoff schedule, get your questions answered by staff and peers, and prep for the day. 
    • At 9:15 a.m., student guides will lead everyone to the Dean's Welcome (starts at 9:30 a.m.).
  • Who Should NOT Attend?
    • Transfer Commuters and On-Campus Residents: You skip this. Instead, attend either the Transfer Student Welcome on Sunday, Aug. 23 (details in the app)
      or Residential Student Check-In the day before, Aug. 20, from 3 鈥 8 p.m., respectively.

Dean鈥檚 Welcome Walking Groups

  • Need assistance locating your Dean's Welcome location? Stop by Risman Plaza right in front of the 天天吃瓜 Student Center between 8:45 - 9:15 a.m. 
  • Here, Peer Success Mentors (PSMs) will walk students to their specific Dean's Welcome location by college.
  • All Dean's Welcome events start at 9:30 a.m. 

Dean鈥檚 Welcome

  • All new students are required to attend the Dean's Welcome for their respective college.
  • Come together with other students in your college to meet your Dean. 
  • You'll build some pride for your major and new academic home before going to Convocation together. 
  • These events will take place from 9:30 - 10 a.m. at various campus locations.
  • Check out the KSU Kickoff app in the event schedule for more information. Please search by college name (i.e. College of Public Health).

Convocation

  • Convocation is your official welcome to 天天吃瓜 State and your first academic ceremony, but with a pep rally energy in the MACC. 
  • You'll meet university leadership, celebrate college pride with your peers, and kick off your academic career.
  • 鈿狅笍 Attendance is required for all new first-year students.    
  • This event will take place at the MACC and will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Make Your MarK (Class of 2030 Picture)

  • Class of 2030! Follow your Peer Success Mentors (PSMs) from Convocation in the Memorial Athletic Convocation Center (MACC) to behind the 天天吃瓜 Student Center at the Centennial Field for your class photo! 
  • The 鈥淜鈥 picture will promptly begin at 11:30 a.m.

First-Year Student Lunch  

  • Head to the 天天吃瓜 Student Center directly after the Class of 2030 photo for lunch provided by University Culinary Services.  
  • You will pick up your lunch at the 天天吃瓜 Student Center Ballroom.
  • Your Peer Success Mentor will lead you to this lunch after the Class of 2030 picture.
  • Find a spot inside or outside of the 天天吃瓜 Student Center to enjoy this lunch with your peers. 
  • Make sure to have your FLASHcard on hand.  
  • This event will take place from 12 鈥 1 p.m.

Pin Your Purpose

  • Hosted by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Pin Your Purpose is a drop-in affirmation button-making event designed to help students begin the semester with intention, encouragement, and connection. 
  • Students will be invited to create personalized buttons featuring affirming messages, values, goals, or reminders they want to carry with them into the academic year.
  • This event will take place from 1 - 3 p.m.

Cool Pops in the CUE (University College)  

  • University College will be passing out mini Handel's ice cream pops in a variety of flavors the afternoon after Convocation and a full morning of other campus events. 
  • So, stop by outside of the Center for Undergraduate Excellence between 12 and 3 p.m.
  • Also, make sure to head to downtown 天天吃瓜 after this event for Flashes First Friday (more details in the app)!

Flashes 101

  • Your first Flashes 101 class is Friday, Aug. 21 (1:30 鈥 3 p.m.). Your room location is determined by your course section鈥攕tay tuned for details!
  • Immediately following class, everyone will walk to downtown 天天吃瓜 for Flashes First Friday, a trademark KSU Kickoff event.
  • Transfer Students: Contact your academic advisor to verify if you are required to take this course.

Flashes First Friday

  • All students are welcomed to this event in downtown 天天吃瓜 where participants will get to know the area and the shops/services available to them as members of the 天天吃瓜 community. Also, come for raffle prizes, food, music, and much more!
  • This event will have an incentive bingo activity on hand for students to participate in that will have them explore the different businesses located in the downtown area. 
  • Students can possibly win raffle prizes and the exclusive event shirt upon completion of the incentive bingo activity.
  • This event will take place starting at E. Erie Street where you will arrive at any time between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Students participating in Flashes 101 on this date will walk downtown to this event from campus after their session concludes with their Peer Success Mentor (PSM), who will also be facilitating this first class!
  • For students who want to participate in this event but are in need of accommodations or alternative transportation options, please reach out to csi@kent.edu and/or 330-672/2480, or let your PSM know day-of during your class session.

Late Night at the Library

  • Kick off the school year with Late Night at The Library on Friday, Aug. 21 from 8:00 鈥 11:00 p.m. at the ! 
  • This is one of KSU Kickoff's longstanding trademark events.
  • You can party with friends over free pizza and Handel鈥檚 ice cream!  
  • Enjoy dancing to a live DJ, games, Esports, giveaways, and more.
