My name is Andrew Pertz, I am an aerospace engineering student with a minor in applied mathematics in the Honors College. In a lot of ways, I feel like ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State found me. As a first-generation college student, the process of applying and finding schools was very overwhelming. I also knew that I wouldn’t be able to afford college, so I was also stressed about applying for scholarships.During my college search, I was looking for schools that offered my major of interest: aerospace engineering. The idea was simple: Physically connect people with the locations of the May 4, 1970, ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï shootings so they might better connect with each other.From this notion, two ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State professors began a research project that blossomed into Mapping May 4, an interactive web app that connects specific May 4 locations to sections of oral histories from May 4 witnesses and others and serves as a navigation device for those walking the May 4 site.
