Student Allison Krause was interested in art making and art history and loved to paint. She volunteered at a residential facility for those with mental illness and cared deeply about what was happening in the world around her. Inspired by Allison, Kathy Walker, Ph.D., will lead participants in an art making session, exploring their personal thoughts on peace through collage and introducing art making as a practice for improving mental health. Before coming to ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State, Walker was a practicing art therapist. She is an associate professor in Human Development and Family Science.

My whole life I had aspired to become a fashion designer, but because of my weak drawing and sewing skills, I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. After receiving my associates in digital design and graphics from Columbus State Community College in 2018, I decided to take a chance and see if I could achieve this dream of mine. ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State was a very easy choice to make because it was in-state and at the time was ranked #3 nationally for the top fashion design program. I tou...
