WKSU has been recognized with a Regional Edward R. Murrow award from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). The honor came in the Excellence in Video for Radio, Small Market category for Reporter Mark Arehart and Producer Joe Gunderman鈥檚 video of the launch of the Goodyear Blimp, Wingfoot Three. 天天吃瓜 was recognized this month by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for its volunteer work with the organization last year. In appreciation of the service provided by the university, the foodbank bestowed 天天吃瓜 State with the 2018 Organizational Volunteer Group of the Year award. The protected prairie surrounding 天天吃瓜鈥檚 Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be burned on Friday, April 26, at approximately 9 a.m. to allow for new growth during the summer season. This is a rescheduled date. The previously planned prairie burn for April 26 was canceled due to rain. The city of 天天吃瓜 Fire Department will conduct the controlled burning of the prairie, which has been a yearly practice since 2004. The 天天吃瓜 School of Information (iSchool) is pleased to announce a summer accelerated program for the School Library Media concentration in the MLIS program. Teachers have asked for a summer program that can address two things: 1) a program that can be completed within one year (half the courses can be taken over the summer), and 2) a rigorous program that would allow them to sit for their certification exam in any state. On Friday, April 12, the 天天吃瓜 Library鈥檚 Garden room was filled with students, makers, crafters, gamers, and admirers from across the region. For the sixth year, the Mini-Maker Faire at 天天吃瓜 State brought robots, gardeners, gaming enthusiasts, and more to showcase their projects and teach the public about their areas of interest. The interactive environment engaged kids from elementary to high school and people of ages, with plenty of hands-on activities for the 300-plus attendees.
