An Update Regarding Conversion of Sick Leave to Vacation Leave
August 3, 2026
Beginning Sept. 1, 2026, only AFSCME employees will be eligible to convert sick leave to vacation leave. The personal leave conversion option, which most employees rely on for this kind of flexibility, remains fully intact. This means employees will still have real flexibility in how they use their accrued sick leave, and will not lose those hours as a result of this update.

Messages may include reminders about important deadlines, tips for using your benefits effectively, highlights of available programs and services, and links to tools or resources that can help you make informed decisions for yourself and your family.

AFSCME Sick Leave to Vacation Conversion
August 13, 2026
From Sept. 1, 2026, through Sept. 14, 2026, eligible AFSCME employees with 500 hours or more of unused sick leave may elect to convert up to 40 hours (5 days) of unused sick leave to vacation leave.
Vacation Cutback Notification
August 7, 2026
Every Sept. 30, vacation balances that are over the maximum accrual are cut back to three times your annual accrual. This is in accordance with vacation policy 6-11.7.
