Trotting Toward 10K-a-Day Challenge

I know. I know. It's getting chilly outside, and it’s so tempting to stay cozy and warm! However, we’re here to help you warm up and stay active with the Flashfit Trotting Toward 10K-a-Day Challenge.  So, toss those blankets aside, lace up those sneakers and start thinking how you can fit your 10K a day in!

What’s in it for you?

  • Combat seasonal sadness;
  • Burn some calories;
  • Reduce your stress levels with consistent daily exercise;
  • Grab a friend or co-worker and enjoy their company;
  • Obtain a clearer mind; and
  • Win prizes!

This challenge is open to all full- and part-time employees on all campuses. You will need a compatible tracking device (Movband, Garmin, Fitbit, etc.) to be part of this challenge, and the list can be found on the DHS (formerly Movable) website or click .

Here’s how you’ll trot your way toward 10K per day. We have broken this down into four achievable weekly goals to slowly ramp up your movement:

Week 1
Nov. 8-14

   Move 50,000 steps per week (average daily steps = 7,145)

Week 2
Nov. 15-21

   Move 55,000 steps per week (average daily steps = 7,860)

Week 3
Nov. 22-28

   Move 62,500 steps per week (average daily steps = 8,930)

Week 4
Nov. 29-Dec. 5

   Move 70,000 steps per week (average daily steps = 10,000)
