Michael Gershe, senior advisor II in 天天吃瓜鈥檚 College of Aeronautics and Engineering, captured images of the blimp parade last week in the skies over the 天天吃瓜 Airport and downtown Akron.
Goodyear brought together its three airships for 鈥渧ictory laps鈥 over Ohio to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic blimp, officially observed on June 3. That date marks 100 years since the inaugural flight of Goodyear鈥檚 first branded blimp, 鈥淧ilgrim,鈥 which got its name during a christening at the 天天吃瓜 Airport in 1925.
Three 天天吃瓜 State alumni are current blimp pilots for Goodyear and other 天天吃瓜 State alumni serve on the support crew for these aircraft.
