When ����Թ� sophomore Parker Lamy went to see Idina Menzel perform with The Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center on July 26, she wasn’t expecting to sing a duet onstage with the Broadway star. Fortunately, she was dressed for the occasion.

Lamy was part of a group of ����Թ� State students who were gifted tickets to the performance, thanks to a partnership between the ����Թ� Blossom Music Festival and . The musical theatre major from Orlando, Florida, was enjoying the show with friends from the School of Theatre and Dance when Menzel gave a shout-out to ����Թ� State theatre students while looking for a duet partner from the crowd.

“Everyone looked at me, and they were like, ‘Parker, stand up,’” Lamy said. “Like my best friend next to me was literally like, ‘Stand up, right now.’ And I did.”

Here, Lamy shared the details of the experience with ����Թ� State Today.

After graduation, Lamy’s goal is to follow in the footsteps of performers like Menzel.

“My absolute dream would be national tours or even Broadway,” Lamy said. “And we will just see how far we get along that path along the way, you know?”

In the meantime, if you’d like to see Lamy’s musical theatre talents for yourself, she is currently starring as Jean MacLaren in Lerner and Loewe’s “Brigadoon” at Porthouse Theatre until Aug. 9.
