The Department of Sport, Hospitality and Event Management is committed to supporting student success both inside and outside the classroom. Through a wide range of academic, professional, and experiential resources, students are equipped to enhance their education and prepare for meaningful careers across sport, hospitality, and event industries.
Students have access to a variety of organizations that foster leadership, networking, and industry engagement, including chapters of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), and Eta Sigma Delta (ESD), as well as opportunities like Chefology. Scholarship opportunities—both within the program and externally—provide additional support for academic achievement and career advancement.
Global learning experiences further enrich the student journey, with opportunities to study and intern abroad, including programs in Florence, Italy through the Office of Global Education.
The department also emphasizes career exploration and preparation, encouraging students to utilize industry tools and resources, connect with faculty and professionals, and explore career pathways aligned with their interests. Graduates are prepared for a wide variety of roles across sport and hospitality industries, including careers in event and meeting planning, sport and facility management, hospitality operations, tourism, and marketing.
