The DI Hub offers a wide variety of orientations, workshops, and custom learning experiences designed to help students, faculty, staff, and community groups explore design innovation. Whether you're introducing a class to makerspaces, developing teamwork and creative problem-solving skills, or exploring emerging technologies, DI programs make it easy to learn by doing. Our activity request form is open to all 天天吃瓜 staff, faculty, and community groups regardless of department, skill level, or experience.
Group Tours & Orientations
Start here to introduce your group to the creative possibilities of the DI Hub and activate access to membership-based resources. Tour and orientation experiences are designed for classes, visiting groups, student organizations, and community partners interested in exploring what鈥檚 possible through Design Innovation. DI Hub Tours are free, typically last 30鈥45 minutes, and include guided overviews of the Reactor makerspace, including the 3D Print and Laser Cut Shop, Sewing/Textiles Shop, Industrial/Robotics Shop, Electronics Shop, X_Realm, Blank_Lab, and more. For groups eligible for DI Hub memberships, the DI Hub Orientation includes an introduction to Design Innovation at 天天吃瓜 State, a guided tour of the space, and membership activation for all participants.
Workshops & Custom Learning Experiences
Workshops provide hands-on opportunities to explore creative technologies, learn equipment, and practice design innovation methods through engaging collaborative activities. Sessions can be requested for classes, student organizations, community groups, and special programs. Available experiences include:
- DI Hub Orientation + (1-3 hours) - Includes the standard DI Hub Orientation plus up to four additional equipment-focused 鈥淗ow To鈥 sessions tailored to your group鈥檚 interests.
- Strengths in Teams: Find Your Superpowers (1 hour) - Participants use the Superpowers app by SYPartners to identify their core strengths and explore how those strengths contribute to collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- 3D Printing Basics: Design to Prototype (2 hours) - Learn the fundamentals of 3D printing and how ideas become physical objects. Participants explore additive manufacturing while using DI Hub 3D printers to understand prototyping and creative production workflows.
- Custom Workshops (1-2 hours) - DI staff can work with your group to design a tailored workshop experience aligned with your goals, interests, or curriculum needs. Custom sessions may focus on maker technologies, design innovation methods, teamwork, or interdisciplinary creative problem-solving.
Hosting an Event at the DI Hub
While we鈥檙e proud to support innovative programs and learning experiences led by DI staff, we do not directly manage general event hosting. If you are planning a meeting, conference, or other event and wish to use DI Hub spaces, please begin your request through 天天吃瓜 State University Events and Conference Services.
Please note:
- All events must comply with the University鈥檚 Event Registration Operational Procedures.
- Student organization events must have a KSU faculty or staff advisor present at all times.
- Event sponsors are welcome to rearrange tables and chairs to suit their setup, but must not block walkways, doorways, or fire safety equipment.
- All furniture must be returned to its original location at the conclusion of the event. Reset guides are posted throughout the building to assist.
