Gen AI to Support Learning
GenAI can enhance learning experiences, provide personalized feedback, and streamline repetitive tasks, freeing up time for students to focus on the content and mastering your learning objectives. Purposefully integrating GenAI into your class can also help students to prepare for their futures. This subpage offers a variety of prompts design to inspire creative ways to incorporate GenAI into your courses.

Type of GenAI Engagement
While your activities should be aligned with your learning objective(s), it is important to know where your comfort level is and reasons for why they are or are not interacting with GenAI. You have want to discuss GenAI and your policy with your students, you produce GenAI output they then use, are students engaging directly with GenAI or something else.
GenAI awareness: (students may or may not use GenAI)
- Discussion of your policy (ex. "Yes, No, Whoa Activity"), case studies, limitations exercise, evaluating outputs
Instructor produces output: (students do not use GenAI)
- If you'd like to focus students on a critique or specific GenAI output or students are refusing to use GenAI, you may want to provide the output for them and have a conversation about a shared output.
Students engage with GenAI directly: (students use GenAI)
- Learn with AI: brainstorm, tutor, explain concepts, practice conversations, receive feedback
- Create with AI: draft, code, design, data analysis, multimedia creating, prototype
- Critique AI: fact-check, bias analysis, compare AI vs. human work, improve prompts, edit output
Purposeful Integration
Purposeful integration starts with your learning goals. After thinking about learning goals, you'll want to consider if students will be engaging with GenAI output you provide or directly interacting with it.
