Admissions Process

All admissions to graduate programs in the College of Education and Human Services are handled through Graduate Admissions. The application process is online; other forms associated with admissions can be obtained through EHS Graduate Student Services.

Admission to the Master's Program

Master鈥檚 Degree applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree. Admission requirements include:

  • A completed application form.
  • A goal statement describing in detail the applicant's reasons for seeking a master鈥檚 degree in Educational Technology.
  • Official transcripts for all prior coursework.
  • An undergraduate grade point average of at least 2.75.
  • Two professional letters of recommendation.

Students whose undergraduate GPAs are below 2.75 can be admitted on probation; they must earn a letter grade of at least B- in each of their first three courses before they can continue with the program.

Admission to the Doctoral Program

To be admitted to the Ph.D. program in Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies, the applicant must already hold a master鈥檚 degree. The basic criteria for admission include:

  • A completed application form.
  • A goal statement describing the applicant's reasons for seeking the doctoral degree.
  • Official transcripts for all prior coursework.
  • A master鈥檚-level grade point average of at least 3.0.
  • Two professional letters of recommendation.
  • An interview, in person, by telephone, or by video, with one or more faculty members in the School of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Studies.

Admission to the Non-Degree Graduate Endorsement Program

The Educational Technology program offers a non-degree Computer Science Endorsement Preparation program. Starting in Spring 2027, endorsement applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree. (Previously, a master's degree was required.)

Admission requirements include:

  • A completed application form.
  • Bachelor鈥檚 degree in education or another appropriate field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA on a 4.000 point scale (last degree).
  • Official transcripts for all prior coursework.
  • A goal statement describing in detail the applicant's reasons for seeking an endorsement.
  • Evidence of valid Resident Educator or Professional State of Ohio teaching license.
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic and professional references.

Students whose GPAs are below 2.75 can be admitted on probation; they must earn a letter grade of at least B- in each of their first three courses before they can continue with the program.

International Admissions

The fully online Educational Technology Master's and EdD degrees are accepting applications from international students. However, because of U.S. Homeland Security restrictions on the number of online course credits that can be taken each semester by students on a foreign visa, international applicants can only take these programs from their home country.

Tuition Costs

Please refer to the Tuition and Fees page for the current tuition rates. Note that online students pay the in-state tuition plus $10/credit hour.
