The ����Թ� women’s golf team finished tied for fifth at the 2017 NCAA National Championship, falling Tuesday, May 23, in the quarterfinals match play round to top seeded Northwestern, 3-2. The ����Թ� State Golden Flashes completed its best run at the NCAA National Championship, beating its previous best finish of 15th place. ����Թ� State also became the first program to ever advance to match play of the women’s golf championship from outside of the “Power 5” conferences.

Educator, pioneering scientist and visionary Owen Lovejoy receives the highest ����Թ� honor.  

For the second straight year, the ����Թ� baseball team has been crowned the outright Mid-American Conference (MAC) regular season champions, a feat now accomplished 14 times in program history. The ����Թ� State Golden Flashes clinched the title and the No. 1 seed at the MAC Tournament, but the 5-2 win at Ohio University on May 20 secured the outright championship. After taking the first two games of the series, the OU Bobcats got a one-run lead in the second inning when a hit batter came around to score on a sacrifice bunt.

The new ARTshop serves as an entrepreneurial laboratory for School of Art students to display and to learn about promoting their artwork.

The No. 12 ����Թ� men’s golf team has booked its ticket to the 2017 NCAA National Championship with a second-place finish at the Washington Regional at 3-over par 855 (287-282-286).

����Թ� is offering special expertise and resources to high school students attending to include immersive opportunities with the university’s fashion, arts and architecture programs.

����Թ� senior  tossed a three-hitter and hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead No. 4 ����Թ� State past No. 2 Ohio, 3-0, in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament Championship game. The performance by Ladines capped a sensational week in which she earned MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.

The No. 15 ����Թ� women’s golf team has qualified for the 2017 NCAA National Championship after finishing the NCAA Lubbock Regional in sixth place at 11-over par 875 (305-287-283). ����Թ� State entered the day tied with No. 2 UCLA in sixth place but held its ground and fought off a tough battle from Oregon State. The Beavers shot 10-under par Wednesday and briefly moved ahead of the Golden Flashes, but ����Թ� State recorded five birdies as a team over the final six holes, despite some late winds, to secure a two-stroke lead in sixth.

����Թ� celebrated its newest graduates at its Spring 2017 Commencement ceremonies. In total, ����Թ� State were conferred 5,636 degrees, including 992 associate degrees, 3,319 bachelor’s degrees, 1,139 master’s degrees, 181 doctoral degrees and five educational specialist degrees.

University Libraries will provide opportunities for ����Թ� students to shake off stress during finals week. University Libraries will hold its semiannual Stress-Free Zone on Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9, from 3-5 p.m. in the Garden Room on the first floor of University Library. The event is open to all ����Թ� State students, faculty and staff.
