May 1970, Student-led Collective Action and the Civil Rights Movement: A KSU Alternative Winter Break Experience
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï's alternative breaks expose students to social justice and cultural issues through direct service, community engagement, reflection and a variety of cultural activities. These programs engage students in service, inform them about current social issues and encourage their ongoing involvement in social change. In December, students visited Jackson, Mississippi for a trip, themed May 1970, Student-led Collective Action and the Civil Rights Movement.
Gordon Stumpo, MA ’16
For Gordon Stumpo, MA ’16, education is not something to leave behind after graduation. His eagerness to learn new techniques and hone his skills has propelled him forward in his career. With nearly a decade of fashion industry experience, Gordon has worked for designers like Zac Posen, Patrik Ervell and Naeem Khan, experiences that provided opportunities to create custom patterns seen on A-list celebrities including Oprah, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Mariah Carey.
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State’s Giving Tuesday Campaign Raises $3.6 Million for Scholarships and Programs
This November, members of the ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï community joined together to shine their light on philanthropy. During the November campaign, ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State’s Giving Tuesday raised $3.6 million, marking the sixth year it has brought in more than $1 million to support scholarships and programs across ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State’s eight-campus system.

This Giving Tuesday, shine your light on ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State students and programs with a gift of $25 or more to the fund of your choice and receive a special Forever Brighter pin to celebrate your impact. ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State Achieves Unprecedented Fundraising Success During First Year of Forever Brighter Campaign
ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï launched the public phase of its $350 million Forever Brighter comprehensive fundraising campaign in October 2021, and during the first year of the public campaign, a record-breaking $77.6 million was raised. This philanthropic feat was made possible with the support of 10,687 donors, 3,753 of whom made a gift to ÌìÌì³Ô¹Ï State for the first time.
